The Allen-Bradley 1794-AENTR is a redundant Ethernet/IP adapter module designed for use within the FLEX I/O system by Rockwell Automation. It supports dual RJ45 communication ports, allowing for flexible network configurations using EtherNet/IP protocol in linear topologies. The module supports data transfer speeds of 10 to 100 Mbps, enabling reliable and high-speed communication for industrial applications.
This module operates at an input voltage range of 19.2 to 31.2 Volts DC, with a nominal voltage of 24 Volts DC. It features a power dissipation of 6.1 W at 19.2 V DC and thermal dissipation of 20.8 BTU/hr at 24 V DC. The power consumption is rated at 500 mA (400 mA @ 24 V DC), and it can handle an inrush current of 18 Amps for 2 milliseconds. Additionally, it supplies a Flexbus current of 640 mA at 5 V DC, supporting up to 8 FLEX I/O modules.
For status and diagnostics, the 1794-AENTR includes LED indicators for Module Status, Network Status, Link1, and Link2. The unit is mounted on a DIN rail and uses standard RJ45 Cat.5 Ethernet cables. Wiring is supported with 0.34 to 2.5 mm² (22 to 12 AWG) stranded copper wire, rated for at least 75 °C, with a maximum insulation diameter of 1.2 mm.
In terms of durability, the module is capable of withstanding industrial environments with an operating temperature range of 0 to 55 °C (32 to 131 °F) and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85 °C (-40 to 185 °F). It has been vibration tested at 5 g (10–500 Hz) and can handle operating shock of 30 g with an 11 ms pulse width. Although it has no specific enclosure rating, it is built in an open-style form factor, making it ideal for cabinet installations. The isolation voltage is rated at 50 V continuous, ensuring electrical safety between circuits.
