The Allen-Bradley 1756-L61 Processor Module is a powerful and reliable ControlLogix series controller manufactured by Rockwell Automation, designed for demanding high-performance control and automation applications. This processor module, identified by part number 1756-L61, delivers robust control with flexible memory options and broad communication capabilities.
It features 2 MB of user memory and supports additional fixed memory configurations of 2 MB, 4 MB, or 8 MB, along with nonvolatile memory provided via a Compact Flash Card (1784-CF128). For communications, it comes equipped with an RS-232 serial port, supporting multiple protocols including ASCII, DF1 Full/Half-Duplex, DF1 Radio Modem, DH-485, and Modbus (via logic configuration), enabling easy integration with diverse devices and networks.
This module can handle up to 128,000 I/O points and 4,000 analog I/O points, making it suitable for large-scale automation systems. With a program scan time of just 0.08 milliseconds, it ensures rapid and efficient processing. In terms of electrical requirements, the module draws 1.2 Amps at 5V DC and 14 milliamps at 24V DC from the backplane.
Physically, it is compact and lightweight, weighing 0.71 pounds (0.32 kilograms), and built to withstand industrial environments with vibration tolerance from 10 to 500 Hertz and relative humidity ranging from 5% to 95%. It supports battery options including the 1756-BA1, 1756-BATM, and 1756-BATA for data retention.
Although this module is discontinued/obsolete, it remains fully supported, with full support for standard programming languages used in industrial automation. This module continues to be a reliable choice for legacy systems requiring stability and performance.
