Technical specifications for RMN2790A
Agilent RMN2790A Gas Chromatograph (GC) – Safety Precautions
Manufacturer: Agilent
Model Number: RMN2790A
Heat-Related Hazards
Many parts of the GC operate at extremely high temperatures, posing a risk of serious burns. These areas include but are not limited to:
- The inlet area
- The oven and its contents
- The detector area
- The column nuts attaching the column to an inlet or detector
- The valve box
Safety Precautions:
- Always allow these areas to cool to room temperature before performing maintenance.
- To speed up cooling, set the temperature of the heated zone to room temperature, then turn the zone off once it reaches the setpoint.
- If maintenance on hot parts is unavoidable, use a wrench and wear thermally protective gloves.
- Avoid opening the oven door immediately after a heating sequence.
Electrical Hazards
Even when the GC power switch is off, dangerous voltages may still be present in the following areas:
- Wiring between the power cord and the AC power supply
- The AC power supply itself
- Wiring from the AC power supply to the power switch
When the power switch is on, additional areas with hazardous voltage include:
- All electronic boards in the instrument
- Internal wires and cables connected to these boards
- Oven motor wires
- Oven heater wires
General Safety Recommendations
- Always disconnect the GC from the power source before performing any maintenance.
- Use insulated tools and follow proper safety procedures when working on electrical components.
- Regularly inspect the instrument for signs of wear, damage, or potential safety hazards.
